Have you recently been discussing the benefits of dental bridges with us as a means of replacing your missing teeth? If so, you probably have a long list of questions that you would like answered. Perhaps you are considering other options, such as dental implants and partial dentures and are trying to decide why a bridge is the best choice for your one missing tooth or your multiple missing teeth. Rather than make yourself feel overwhelmed, we encourage you to narrow down your options by asking all of the questions filling your mind. We are always more than happy to answer your questions and to help you make the best decision for your smile during your visits. In the meantime, take a look at the following FAQs and answers for a better idea of whether a bridge may be the right choice for you:
FAQs: Dental Bridges
Question: Why bridges instead of implants?
Answer: A dental bridge offers a budget-friendly solution for patients missing one tooth or up to three teeth in a row. If you are looking for a fixed solution that will not require as large of an upfront investment as implants, a bridge is a wonderful option. In addition, bridges do not require surgery, which is a requirement of implants.
Question: Why a bridge instead of a partial?
Answer: A bridge is fixed, meaning we will cement it in place. A partial may not be the best choice for you if you would prefer a prosthetic that remains in place, since a partial denture is something that you will put in your mouth and then remove throughout the day.
Question: How does a bridge work?
Answer: A bridge is composed of two end crowns, which are connected to one, two, or three pontics – or artificial teeth – that will fill the opening in your smile. We will cement the crowns over the tooth that sits on either side of the opening in your arch.
Question: Will the dental bridge look obvious?
Answer: No. We will color match the artificial teeth to blend with your surrounding teeth, so you simply look like you have a uniform, complete smile.
